From Penzance I walked the last miles of the south coast of Cornwall to Land’s End and then started up the north coast, walking as far as Holywell, a few miles from Newquay. The path followed the contours of dramatic cliffs and regularly plunged down to sandy coves and rocky beaches. The countryside was full of early spring flowers and the scent of wild garlic.
I had grown used to not seeing a soul all day on these walks but for the first time this year I now had company as the fine weather and the Easter holidays brought other walkers out onto the coast path. It was nice to stop and chat, compare notes and share the experience.
